HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The State Fair of Virginia has officially returned, celebrating its 170th anniversary with a vibrant lineup of events, performances and culinary delights.

Taking place at Meadow Event Park, the fair opens Friday, Sept. 27 and will run for ten days, drawing an expected crowd of around 200,000 visitors from across the Commonwealth, with something for the whole family.

Operating since 1854, the fair has become a beloved tradition in Central Virginia. Gates open daily at 10 a.m. and close at 9 p.m., with events scheduled throughout the day. The fair runs from Friday through Sunday, Oct. 6.

This year’s theme, “Where Home Grown Happens,” highlights Virginia’s rich agricultural heritage and offers attendees a chance to indulge in local produce and innovative food options.

Guests can look forward to nightly concerts, vegetable competitions and a diverse range of food that promises to surprise even the most adventurous eaters.

The State Fair of Virginia continues to be a significant highlight of the region’s calendar, showcasing the best that Virginia has to offer. As excitement builds, locals and visitors alike are encouraged to come out and experience this time-honored celebration.
