    Tornado warnings in effect for some Virginia localities, including in Central Virginia

    RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued tornado warnings for multiple Virginia localities on Friday, including one in Central Virginia.

    A tornado warning means that a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado has been located by the NWS.

    Until 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27, the following localities are under a tornado warning:

    • Sussex County
    • Surry County
    • Isle of Wight County
    • Southampton County
    • Caswell County
    • Pittsylvania County
    • Halifax County

    Those in the affected areas should take cover immediately.

    Around 4:45 p.m., a tornado was reportedly spotted in Southampton County, according to NWS.
