SHENANDOAH COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Shenandoah National Park has implemented multiple trail closures due to flooding and downed trees.

In a Facebook post on Monday, Sept. 30, the national park stated that trail closures for Whiteoak Canyon and Cedar Run remain in effect due to these unsafe conditions.

Park officials also advised that hikers avoid any trails with water crossings, waterfalls or rocky areas for the foreseeable future.

“Hiking Old Rag would not be a good idea today or tomorrow,” Shenandoah National Park said. “More rain is expected in the forecast, and slick conditions can be expected on leaf-covered trails and roads.”

As of the time of this reporting, boundary access roads are being monitored due to their fluctuating water levels.
