Two correctional officers stabbed by Greensville Correctional Center inmate

GREENSVILLE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Two correctional officers were stabbed by an inmate at Greensville Correctional Center on Tuesday.

The stabbing occurred sometime on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at the correctional center, according to the Virginia Department of Corrections.

The department said there is an active investigation into the stabbing, and that no additional information could yet be shared.

Officials have not yet released the condition of either of the correctional officers.

This comes after numerous incidents have occurred in the facility, including the seizure of drugs and contraband in November of 2023, the death of an inmate in October of 2023 and an employee being found dead in her car that same month, among others.
