    Petersburg Customer Care and Collections Department, Commissioner of the Revenue office temporarily closing

    PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — The Petersburg Customer Care and Collections Department and the Commissioner of the Revenue offices will be closed temporarily for building renovations.

    The department will be closed on Monday, Oct. 7 and Tuesday, Oct. 8, according to a city spokesperson.

    Starting on Wednesday, Oct. 9, the department will temporarily work from the first floor of City Hall, located at 135 North Union Street so that renovations can be made to its Sycamore Street building.

    The Commissioner of the Revenue office will also be closed temporarily. Residents and businesses needing help from the office can email corteam@petersburg-va.org.

    The city recommends using its online payment system , which is available daily from 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. Credit and debit card payments will incur a 3% processing fee, while electronic checks can be processed without additional charges, according to the spokesperson.

    People can also pay by using the drop box at 144 North Sycamore Street. All submissions will be collected and processed on the next business day, according to the city. Mailed payments can also be sent to P.O. Box 1271, Petersburg, VA 23804.
