Jay-Z’s Roc Nation collaborates with REFORM Alliance to host public job fair in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Rap icon Jay-Z’s Roc Nation and REFORM Alliance are collaborating to host a public job fair in Richmond — aiming to address worker shortages in Virginia.

Roc Nation and REFORM Alliance has announced plans to host a job fair from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 18, at the Greater Richmond Convention Center.

Some may already know that Roc Nation is the rapper Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter’s full-service entertainment company. REFORM Alliance is a criminal justice reform organization founded by Robert Kraft (New England Patriots owner), Michael Rubin (Fanatics CEO), Robert F. Smith, rappers Jay-Z and Meek Mill and many others.

According to a spokesperson for the event, the job fair will feature employers like Starbucks, Foot Locker, Crunch Fitness, City of Richmond and many others looking to fill over 250,000 open positions.

“We welcome employers and job offerings of all types to be made available to all Virginians,” said Roc Nation’s managing director of philanthropy, Dania Diaz. “When we collaborate and coordinate efforts to align opportunities with talent, we all benefit. We all win. This job fair can truly serve as an impactful way to uplift Virginians and support the state’s local economy and we look forward to creating a welcoming space for returning citizens and job seekers from all walks of life to access career development resources, resume support, professional attire, grooming services, and meaningful employment opportunities.”

In addition, the job fair will also offer other free services and resources like resume writing consultations, job interview coaching, access to professional interviewing attire, grooming services (haircuts and styling), photographers for professional headshots, expungement information and support.

“With historically low unemployment rates in Richmond and across the Commonwealth, employers are hungry for talent while job seekers with records – who are among some of the most loyal and hardworking employees – have trouble finding work,” said REFORM Alliance’s CEO, Jessica Jackson. “REFORM and Roc Nation are bringing our resources to bear and connecting these communities alongside the support and services they need to overcome obstacles to success.”
