Off the Hook with Matty D: Fall means fly fishing for muskies and smallmouth

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Stormtracker8 Meteorologist Matt DiNardo sat down with Captain Josh Laferty of Virginia Trophy Guides to discuss fly fishing for muskies and smallmouth bass.

The pair began by discussing Laferty’s guide experience on the New River and Upper James, targeting muskies and smallmouth bass.

“It’s a long grind, y’know, 12 months a year, but we love it,” Laferty said. “We’re fortunate we meet some great folks and fish with some wonderful people on our boats every day. So, yeah, it’s been a great ride.”
