    Two people charged with first-degree murder in Albemarle for 2023 homicide

    ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The Albemarle County Police Department has charged two people with first-degree murder in relation to a homicide investigation that has lasted over a year and a half.

    According to police, on Monday, Oct. 7, 22-year-old Torius Price and 22-year-old Taquarius Catoe-Anderson were indicted and charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder and using a firearm while committing a felony for the murder of 34-year-old Joshua Lamont Jones, of Charlottesville.

    On Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2023 at around 9:45 p.m., officers were called to the 300 block of Timberland Lane, just south of Charlottesville, for the report of a shooting. When they got there, they found Jones shot.

    Jones was taken to the University of Virginia Medical Center, where he later died. Police said a third person believed to be involved in Jones’ death was murdered in Charlottesville soon after on March 4, 2023.

    The investigation into Jones’ death is still ongoing, anyone with information is asked to call Albemarle Police at 434-296-5807 .
