Firefighters battle late-night fire at Petersburg Mexican restaurant

PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — A Mexican restaurant in Petersburg caught fire late Wednesday night.

At about 10:18 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16, firefighters with Petersburg Fire Rescue & Emergency Services responded to 2118 County Drive for report of a structure fire.

This commercial one-story building houses Tienda y Taqueria Doña Rosa, a Mexican restaurant.

When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames pouring from the building.

Photos provided by fire officials appear to show smoke coming from the entrance of the restaurant. While it isn’t clear, the interior does seem to be damaged by the fire.

The fire was extinguished within minutes. Responders checked if anyone was inside the building and no one was found. There were no injuries, according to officials.

Officials continue to investigate the fire.
