    Chesterfield man dies in hospital after being hit in head during ‘altercation’ in Scott’s Addition

    RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A 26-year-old Chesterfield County man is dead days after he was hit in the head during an “altercation” in Richmond’s Scott’s Addition neighborhood. Police are searching for any information that could lead detectives to his attacker.

    At 2:14 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, officers with the Richmond Police Department responded to the 2800 block of West Marshall Street for a reported aggravated assault.

    When they arrived, officers found 26-year-old Jacob Baldwin of the Midlothian area of Chesterfield down with an injury to his head in the intersection of North Sheppard and West Marshall streets.

    According to investigators, Baldwin was hit by an unknown male suspect following an “altercation.”

    Baldwin was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of his life-threatening injuries. Four days later, on Wednesday, Oct. 16, he was pronounced dead.

    A photo of Baldwin, shown above, was provided by his family with the hope that someone who knows something about the circumstances of his death may recognize him.

    According to police, detectives are specifically looking for information on what may have taken place Friday night and/or early Saturday morning in Scott’s Addition leading up to Baldwin’s assault.
