When they arrived, they found 26-year-old Jacob Baldwin down with an injury to his head near the intersection of North Sheppard and West Marshall Streets.

Baldwin was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment for life-threatening injuries. On Wednesday, Oct. 16, police said he was pronounced dead.

According to authorities, Baldwin was hit in the head by an unknown male suspect following an “altercation.”

A vigil was held for Baldwin on Friday, Oct. 18, at 11 a.m. near the site of the assault.

Police and detectives are still looking for information on what may have taken place Friday night and/or early Saturday morning in Scott’s Addition leading up to Baldwin’s assault.

Another tragedy that WOULD not could, have been prevented if neither party had been drinking. However, nobody will focus on yet another 100% preventable tragedy that happened as a result of impaired judgement due to alcohol consumption. But, of course I’m wasting my breath, because everybody loves a toddy or 10 from time to time. Wake up! Alcohol is THE BIGGEST KILLER IN US, hands down, not to mention the impact it has in homes across America every day… I hope this young man knew Christ, and is RIP alongside Him.
