Businessman linked to prominent Springfield business charged with assault
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - A Springfield businessman is charged with three counts of domestic assault and kidnapping. Investigators say Marco Denis picked up the victim at Sequiota Park to go shopping in Branson on July 14. Instead, he drove the woman to his boat in Kimberling City. Investigators say the victim told police Denis beat her repeatedly and threw her into the water several times.

An elderly couple died in the flash flooding on Tuesday and a 70-year-old man was rescued on top of his car in the flood waters just outside Elsah. The deceased man and woman were married from Alton and both 88-years-old, while the other man was shaken up but not otherwise injured. Their names are not being shared publicly at this time pending notification of family.

Stolen weapons from vehicles remain a concern statewide
A recent study found over 11,000 guns in Missouri were reported stolen over a five-year stretch, which causes concern for safety officials in St. Joseph as well. A study that was released by the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms traced stolen weapons from 2017 through 2021 and found that over 11,000 were reported stolen in Missouri.
