LUDOWICI, Ga. (WSAV) – The Long County School District has further delayed its first day of school due to the continued impacts of Tropical Storm Debby.

The main concern now is impassable roads.

The tentative first day of school for students will be Wednesday, Aug. 14.

Students were originally meant to start the school year off on Monday, Aug. 5.

Faculty and staff will return to work on Monday, Aug. 12, as school and district offices, including central enrollment, will reopen.

Families are asked to monitor the district’s social media for updates and the revised 2024-25 school calendar.

“We are looking forward to the first day of school,” the district stated.
