    New Hampstead, Robert Toombs open the season with wins

    SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — The high school football officially kicked off for southeast Georgia with two Thursday night games.

    In Pooler, New Hampstead hosted South Effingham at Pooler Stadium. New Hampstead looked in mid-season form. They put 21 points in the first quarter. They scored nine points in the second quarter, highlighted by a safety which was followed up by a touchdown. The Phoneix led 30-0 after the first 24 minutes. The final score was 56-35.

    Out in Claxton, Pinewood Christian opened the season at home against Robert Toombs Christian Academy. Robert Toombs scored 28 points in the first quarter. Robert Toombs Justin Powell scored three touchdowns in the opening frame. The Crusaders went on to win, 48-14.
