Low Country, S.C. (WSAV)—Kappa Delta Alumnae Chapter won a $6,800 grant to fund two dozen programs for The Children’s Center.

The money will be put towards helping children explore music, local heritage, literacy and nature. According to the press release From Kappa Delta (KD), the award will allow the Children’s Center to establish a garden that the students will plant and maintain.

The grant will be used to pay for performances by local entertainers like Mr. Puppet and Jevon Daly. It will fund field trips to Historic Mitchellville and the Coastal Discovery Museum.

This is the third grant for the Children’s Center, and it is one of six given out this year across the country.

“Thanks to KD, The Children’s Center is able to offer extended STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) opportunities for our children and families,” said Executive Director of The Children’s Center, Jody Levitt. “We are grateful for their continued support.”

The Children’s Center, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization that works to provide working families across the Lowcountry with affordable, accessible early childhood education and childcare services. The Children’s Center’s early childhood education program is provided five days a week, year-round, according to the press release.
