Suspect dead in officer-involved shooting in Liberty County

LIBERTY COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) – A suspect involved in a domestic dispute is dead after being shot by a Liberty County deputy Tuesday morning, officials tell News 3.

The shooting took place around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning in the area of the 400 block of Old Hines Road in Flemington.

The officer involved was not injured. The suspect was taken to Liberty Regional Medical Center In Hinesville for treatment and later died.

According to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, the site is secure and there is no danger to the public at this time.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been called in to investigate the incident.
