TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. (WSAV) – The Tybee Island Police Department is implementing its protocol for peak traffic this Labor Day weekend.

This means the left lanes of Highway 80 and Butler Avenue will be reserved for emergency vehicles only to help first responders travel promptly.

Beachgoers can also expect an increased law enforcement presence on the island.

License plate readers will also be active around the island, according to the city.

“So, as you finalize your last minute plans for the weekend, remember to remain patient, be kind to one another, and drive carefully,” Tybee Island PD stated. “Your safety is important to us!”

A Beach Bash is happening all weekend, starting Friday night with a performance by the Swinging Medallions. For more information, visit here.
