SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV)—The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System (SCCPSS) said that an altercation occurred on the football field during the third quarter of the School of Liberal Studies at Savannah High and Bryan County High School game on Friday.

SCCPSS said that preliminary reports indicate the altercation began following a play and call on the field that led to a disagreement.

One player from Savannah High was reportedly injured while trying to break up the fight and transported to Memorial Hospital to be examined, SCCPSS said. His injuries are not believed to be serious.

At the time of the altercation, SCCPSS said that there were four minutes remaining in the third quarter and officials made the decision to end the game. The stands were cleared shortly thereafter without incident.

The SCPSS said that this situation will be subject to the investigation of the incident, discipline for the student-athletes involved will be handled per our Student Code of Conduct.
