The threat was reportedly made at 3:55 p.m., after the school day. The school was made aware by local authorities of anonymous calls that included threats. This triggered safety protocols and the CPD immediately secured the perimeter.

“We commend our Claxton Police Department and school officials for their actions this afternoon. Threats to the safety of our students and families are taken very seriously and will be dealt with to the fullest extent of the law. I ask for and appreciate families having conversations with our children about the importance and seriousness of school safety,” said Dr. Marty Waters, Superintendent of Evans County Charter School System.

No further threats were determined on campus and lockdowns were lifted soon after CPD investigated the scene.
