SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Week two of college football and week one of NFL football in Georgia is officially in the rearview mirror. Below is a breakdown of some of the games played around Georgia this past weekend.

#1 Georgia vs Tennessee Tech: The Georgia Bulldogs continue to have no need for the loss column in their record following a 48-3 win over Tennessee Tech. Georgia QB Carson Beck finished the day 18 of 25 for 242 yards and five touchdowns. On the other side of the ball, the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles were never able to get any real offense going as the Bulldogs held them to 134 yards of total offense. Georgia will face fellow SEC member Kentucky this Saturday in Lexington.

#23 Georgia Tech vs Syracuse: Georgia Tech drops one to Syracuse 31-28 and the Yellow Jackets may be falling out of the AP Top 25 just as quickly as they climbed into it. Redshirt junior QB Haynes King accounted for three of the team’s four touchdowns on the day. King went 29 of 39 for 266 yards and one touchdown through the air. He also led the team in rushing with six carries for 67 yards and two touchdowns. Senior QB and Ohio State transfer Kyle McCord finished the day going 32 of 46 for 381 yards and throwing for four touchdowns. The Yellow Jackets will look to rebound as they take on the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) Keydets in Atlanta this Saturday.

Georgia Southern vs Nevada: The Georgia Southern Eagles rebound following a week one loss to Boise State with a week two win over the Nevada Wolf Pack. Quarterback JC French kept the stat sheet clean for a second straight week as he went 23 of 37 for 243 yards and two touchdowns. The Wolf Pack were led by junior QB Brendon Lewis who threw for 271 yards and one touchdown. Lewis also led the team in rushing with 97 yards and one touchdown on 18 carries. Georgia Southern returns to Statesboro this week to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks.

Savannah State vs Southern Jaguars: The Savannah State Tigers start their season off on the wrong side of the win-loss column as they fall to the Southern Jaguars 42 to 10. Finishing the day with only 66 yards of total offense, the Tigers struggled to get the offense going. Senior QB Jadon Adams led the team in rushing with 81 yards and one touchdown on 7 carries. Jaguars first-year QB Czavian Teasett threw for 316 yards and three touchdowns on the day. Savannah State will look to rebound as they take on Central State University this Saturday.

Atlanta Falcons vs Pittsburgh Steelers: The Falcons home opener did not go as planned as they fell 18-10 to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Newly acquired QB Kirk Cousins accounted for the Falcons’ only touchdown on the day as he threw for 155 yards and one touchdown. Unfortunately, he would finish the day with two interceptions as well. The Steelers’ offense was led by the right leg of kicker Chris Boswell who accounted for all 18 of the team’s points. The Falcons will now head out on the road as they travel to Philidelphia to take on the Eagles this Sunday.
