LONG COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) – Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) agents are currently investigating the Long County Commissioner’s Office over allegations of the misappropriation of county funds.

The GBI announced on Tuesday that special agents, digital forensic investigators and forensic auditors had executed a search warrant at the Commissioner’s Office. Multiple items were seized for analysis.

The investigation comes as a response to the Long County Sheriff’s Office requesting such on August 30, 2024.

The investigation is ongoing as WSAV will provide updates as soon as they are available.

The GBI says that anyone with information is encouraged to contact the regional investigative office in Kingsland at 912-729-6198. Anonymous tips can also be submitted by calling 1-800-597-TIPS (8477), online at https://gbi.georgia.gov/submit-tips-online, or by downloading the See Something, Send Something mobile app.
