STATESBORO, Ga. (WSAV) — Statesboro will host Glynn Academy on Sept. 13 as they continue region play.

The Blue Devils opened up region play with a road loss to Greenbrier, 43-14. In the contest, Statesboro turned the ball over five times. “You can’t expect to win in this region with five turnovers,” said Head Coach Matt Dobson.

Freshman quarterback Beckham Jarrad has been a bright spot this season. He is completing 65 percent of his passes with three touchdowns against two interceptions.

But the focus this week for Statesboro is protecting the football.

“We got to clean up some stuff, and most of it was self-inflicted stuff,” Dobson said. “And so we get those things cleaned up. We feel good about where we’re at, and then we’ve just got to become a more physical football team. That’s kind of the message to our team this week. It is physicality and something that we’ve just got to continue to improve on.”

Statesboro looks to bounce back with a win at home against Glynn Academy on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
