OKATIE, S.C. (WSAV) – A private, nonprofit, no-kill animal rescue, Palmetto Animal League is dedicated to serving animals that need a home in the Lowcountry.

Lindsay Perry with PAL says they have a unique approach to adoptions.

“We designed PAL to be a home-like place so that when people come to visit, they can experience the animals in a home-like environment, not in a cage,” she explained.

It gives potential adopters the chance to get to know the animals face-to-face.

“One of the things we say is that if you’re looking for a pet, the most important thing you can do is build a connection with an animal,” Perry said.

In honor of this year’s Clear the Shelters campaign, one generous donor is sponsoring adoption fees on Wednesday, Sept. 11.

They saw PAL featured on WSAV and decided to give back.

For one day, adoption fees will be waived for cats, kittens, dogs and puppies.

The rescue is located at 56 Riverwalk Blvd. and is open Monday through Saturday from noon to 6 p.m.
