SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — The Savannah State football teams started its quest towards a conference championship against Central State.

The Tigers come into the match up with Central State at 0-1. Savannah State lost last week against Southern University.

The Tigers played well early on and had the lead after the first quarter but could not hold on for a 42-10 loss.

One of the bright spots in the loss was Islands alum Jadon Adams. He rushed 81 yards on seven carries and Head coach Aaron Kelton said he has seen a lot of growth of his quarterback.

“I think he’s a lot more focused,” Kelton said. “I think he’s done a great job both in the run game and the pass game. As a leader, the guys are behind him, they follow him. They want to see him be successful because they know if he’s successful he’s getting them the ball and he’s doing the right things and our team has a chance to be successful.”

Central State has been outscored 75-10. The game kicks off from Tiger Stadium at 6 p.m.
