Whitemarsh Island Walmart named ‘Store of the Year’

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – One local Walmart is being recognized for its dedicated staff.

Walmart’s corporate team in Bentonville, Arkansas, named the Whitemarsh Island location “Store of the Year” out of 363 other stores in the Division 1 category.

“Our associates and management are proud and grateful to be named Store of the Year,” said Jill Thrasher, store manager at Walmart store #606. “Serving our community and the influx of tourists we see in the summer months is our top priority and our associates are the key to our success.”

The location was given the honor based on customer satisfaction and longtime employees. Twenty-two percent of the store’s staff have been at the location for at least 20 years, News 3 is told.

“We have been able to develop meaningful relationships with those who live here full-time and the vacationers, and the positive feedback they give inspires us to continue providing top-notch customer service,” Thrasher added.

Out of 4,700 Walmart stores in the country, on three are given the “Store of the Year” status among Supercenters, Neighborhood Markets and Division 1 locations.
