    Football around Georgia: Week 4 review

    SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – The Georgia Bulldogs have a week off following a close call against an SEC rival. Georgia Tech and Georgia Southern add to their loss columns against ranked opponents and Savannah State gets its first win of the season. Here is your weekly recap for football around Georgia this past weekend.

    #2 Georgia fell one spot in the AP rankings this past week following a 13-12 win over Kentucky. The Bulldogs will have a week to regroup before taking on #4 Alabama on Sept. 28.

    Georgia Tech vs #19 Louisville: Georgia Tech came away from their matchup with Louisville without the result they were looking for. The Yellow Jackets take a 31-19 loss to the #19 Cardinals in Kentucky. Georgia Tech ended the day with 410 yards of total offense. Junior QB Haynes King ended his day going 21 of 32 for 312 yards. He also led the team in rushing with 14 carries for 58 yards and a touchdown. Georgia Tech is off this week but will return to action on Oct. 5 against Duke.

    Georgia Southern vs #5 Ole Miss: The Georgia Southern Eagles fall to 2-2 on the season after a 52-13 loss to #5 Ole Miss. The Eagles only managed 195 yards of total offense on the day whole Ole Miss finished the day with 607 total yards. Georgia Southern’s sophomore QB JC French finished the day going 20 of 28 for 109 yards in the air. Georgia Southern now heads to Atlanta to face the 2-1 Georgia State Panthers.

    Savannah State vs Tuskegee University: Savannah State gets its first win of the year as they beat Tuskegee University 20-16. The Tigers finished the day with 297 yards of total offense. QB Jhaydon Sullivan went 12 of 19 for 178 yards. He would throw two touchdowns against one interception. Senior WR Da’Shun Mitchell had five catches for 104 yards and two touchdowns. Savannah State will now return home to take on Fort Valley State University on Saturday.

    Atlanta Falcons vs Kansas City Chiefs: The Atlanta Falcons drop a close one in the final seconds to the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. The Falcons posted 311 yards of offense in the 22-17 loss. Quarterback Kirk Cousins went 20 of 29 for 230 yards. Cousins threw one touchdown and one interception on the day. On the other sideline, the Chiefs were successful in large part due to the performance of WR Rashee Rice who finished his day with 12 catches for 110 yards and one touchdown.

    The Falcons will look to rebound in this week’s matchup as they prepare to take on the New Orleans Saints at home.
