    Up to $10,000 reward for information about firearm theft

    SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV)—The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) are offering rewards for information in cases involving the theft of firearms from federally licensed firearms retailers.

    ATF said that they are investigating the theft of firearms that occurred in the early morning hours on Sept. 24, 2024, at approximately 1:40 a.m., a burglary occurred at Backwoods Armory in Brooklet, Ga.

    The suspect fled with 12 firearms, which pose a potential danger to our communities and quality of life, according to the ATF. They said they are soliciting the public’s assistance with any information that leads to those responsible.

    ATF is offering a reward in an amount up to $5,000, which will be matched by the NSSF for a total reward up to $10,000, the ATF said.

    “ATF takes this crime very seriously,” said Resident Agent in Charge Joseph Waller “ATF is committed to preventing firearms trafficking, which is a serious offense resulting in significant federal prison time for those responsible.”

    This reward is part of a larger national cooperative initiative between the NSSF and ATF in which NSSF matches ATF rewards in cases involving the theft of firearms from federally licensed firearms retailers, ATF said.

    Anyone with information about this crime should contact the ATF Gun Hotline at 1-800-ATF-GUNS (283-4867). Callers may remain anonymous.

    ATF is the lead federal law enforcement agency with jurisdiction in violent crimes involving firearms and regulating the firearms industry. More information on ATF can be found on the ATF website.
