Hampton County man charged with battery, assault

HAMPTON COUNTY, S.C. (WSAV) – The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has charged a Hampton County man with third-degree battery and assault.

SLED charged 40-year-old Keith Allen Pauls Jr. on Thursday, Sept. 26 following an investigation at the request of the Hampton County Police Department (HCPD).

The arrest warrant provided by SLED alleges an incident that occurred between Pauls and a victim on June 21, 2024. Pauls admitted in an interview with the Division to grabbing the victim’s shirt or neck from behind in response to the victim’s “groping”. SLED determined that the aforementioned was true through witness testimony.

Pauls was booked into the Hampton County Detention Center.

The case will be prosecuted by the Fourteenth Solicitor’s Office.
