CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) – The Chatham Emergency Management Agency (CEMA) has issued a flood warning alert effective from Saturday evening until further notice.

According to CEMA, moderate flooding is forecast for the Ogeechee River near Eden, with impacts at 14 ft. as several homes and camps near the river are surrounded by water.

Significant flooding will also occur at Steel Bridge boat landing on Highway 119. Water will surround several homes near the boat landing and access to the homes will be limited. The boat landing will also be flooded and likely have limited use, CEMA warns.

Just after 3 p.m. on Saturday, the stage was 8 ft. CEMA forecasts the river to rise above flood stage late Saturday evening and continue rising to a crest of 14 ft. Monday morning. Flood stage is 11 ft.
