SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – The 2024 presidential election is fast approaching, and the voter registration deadline has arrived for the state of Georgia. Monday is your last chance to sign up to vote for key offices in the November election.

Every state has its own voter registration deadline.

South Carolina extended their voter deadline to Oct. 14 after Helene’s impact; Georgia has not, so the deadline remains as Oct. 7.

It’s also the last chance for voters in key battleground states, including Florida and Arizona, to register to vote. Missing this deadline could mean losing the opportunity to cast a ballot in what is looking to be a pivotal election.

Seats up for election include Congress, local offices and the president.

Georgia voters must register by mail, online or in person by close of business Monday. Those who are voting absentee should note that their ballots will be mailed out to those who requested them starting today.

Early voting in the Peach State begins Tuesday, Oct. 15 and runs until Nov. 1.

It is important to check your registration status. Georgia voters can make sure they are registered to vote online at this link.

By visiting the GA My Voter Page, you can check your:

    – Voter registration status

    – Mail-in application and ballot status

    – Poll location

    – Early voting locations

    – Elected officials

    – Registration information on file with the county office

    – Sample ballot for the upcoming election

    – Provisional ballot status

South Carolina voters can do the same on the Election Commission’s website linked here.

Why do they feel there’s a need to extend it, they’ve had all year, and the year before, and the one before that.
