BAXLEY, Ga. (WSAV) – All Appling County Schools will remain closed due to damage sustained from Hurricane Helene, the district announced Tuesday.

Officials said buses are unable to operate safely, meanwhile, roughly 55% of Appling County EMC customers are still without power.

Students and families can expect more updates next week.

“The safety of our students, staff, and community is our top priority,” the district stated. “Thank you for your patience and understanding. Please stay safe, Appling County.”

The school district will continue its drive-thru meal distribution for children ages 0-18 at Appling County Middle School on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m.

Students do not have to be present, though meals will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

To save time, the district recommends having your student(s) name written down and ready before arriving to give to the attendant.
