JESUP, Ga. (WSAV) – A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, October 26 for a Jesup native who perished in the Helene flooding in North Carolina.

33-year-old Julie Ann le Roux was born in El Paso, Texas, to Alvin Henry le Roux and Jean Mary Kloeckl le Roux of Jesup, where she grew up. Today, she is remembered as a generous spirit and a talented artist.

“She was a wildflower, a free spirit who embraced life with an adventurous heart. Whether exploring new places, trying new activities, or simply spending time with loved ones, Julie approached every experience with enthusiasm and a sense of wonder,” said le Roux’s obituary.

le Roux’s fiancee, John Norwood III, reported her missing in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Helene after massive floods swept her away. A dramatic search-and-rescue operation spanned days and received widespread national media coverage.

Her deceased body was recovered by first responders on Friday, October 4.

The funeral will be held at First Baptist Church in Ludowici, Georgia, with Pastor Terry Sellars officiating.
