HINESVILLE, Ga. (WSAV) — The high school football teams of Bradwell Institute and Liberty County lost Tuesday night varsity matchups stemming from schedule changes because of Hurricane Helene.

Bradwell Institute hosted Greenbrier out of the Augusta area. Greenbrier led 17-8 at the break. They added a field goal and a touchdown in the third quarter to extend their lead to 27-8. The final score was 34-22. Bradwell has now dropped five straight contests.

Later this week, Bradwell Institute will be back on the field as they face South Effingham.

In Brooklet, Liberty County was on the road facing Southeast Bulloch. The home team scored the first 21 points, but Liberty County made a strong comeback attempt. However, Southeast Bulloch was able to hang on, 28-19.

Next up for Liberty County is a road date with Beach on Oct. 24. For Southeast Bulloch, they travel to Long County on Oct. 25.

Coaches are not using all of the available talent on both sides of the ball in games whether they’re JV or not, and the Varsity lineups are showing they need help. Some of the players are not taking it seriously. Lack of discipline. It’s like some of the “players” think “it’s just something to do”, with a status to be “on a team.” They best learn they’re not entitled. The future Coach(es) need to make sure that the players that sign on are serious at try outs and if they drop performance into the season open the try out rosters again. Fire the weak links! They also need to make sure that the parents will be here for at least 3-4 years instead of the transient lineups with us being a military town. I’ll start paying to see games again when Bradwell brings back a winning season. This one is over. Sad state of affairs. These are just a series of truths.
