A major development in Elizabeth is in limbo after Charlotte City Council voted to defer the project.

The proposed development was set to be built on 7th Street near Lamar and Clement Avenue.

The most recent site plan calls for more than 190 housing units and about 5,600 square feet of retail.

However, the city opposed the project due to its height.

The highest proposed point is 78 feet, while the city wants it to be 65 feet.

Mayor Pro Tem Dante Anderson is in support of the project and worries a worse project will be built instead.

It is unclear when or if the Charlotte City Council will vote on the project again.
