Detectives investigate east Charlotte homicide

Detectives are investigating a homicide Thursday night in east Charlotte, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

It happened shortly after 10:30 p.m. along Timber Lake Drive in a neighborhood off Albemarle Road.

Officers told Channel 9 that 23-year-old Franklin Rodriguez-Alfaro was found in a van with multiple gunshot wounds.

A motive for the shooting has yet to be determined, according to police.

“A normally quiet neighborhood. It definitely is quite unusual to have something like this occur. Being so early in the investigation we haven’t been able to get into the details to figure out the why,” said Major Bret Balamucki.
