    What to do if you’re affected by a data breach

    The number of data breaches is going up every year.

    Last year, more than 350 million people worldwide were affected by data breaches, leaks and exposures.

    “My Social Security number was stolen in the big Equifax hack, and I was eventually able to sort everything out,” said Consumer Reports Tech Editor Nicholas De Leon.
