SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) – Less than a week since its unveiling, the Hub City Spartanburgers has sold merchandise in more than half of all U.S. states.

In a post on the team’s Facebook page, the team announced it has sold merchandise to baseball fans from all over America.

“In just 2 days, we’ve seen our Hub City Spartanburgers merch spread like wildfire across 27 states! Looks like the burger love is real and we couldn’t be happier to serve up some spicy merch for our fans,” the team said.

The reception outside of the Upstate is different than the one the team has seen locally.

Last week, the team, a minor league affiliate of the 2023 World-Series-winning Texas Rangers, unveiled its name and branding at a block party in Spartanburg.

Locally, reactions to the team were a mix of excitement and some derision over the return of the Spartanburger name, which was last used in 2021.

The team took to social media earlier this week to defend their choice of name and branding.

I can't believe there are people willing to pay money to wear that ridiculous name and logo! What a joke!
