TIGERVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) – North Greenville University announced on Tuesday its new athletic director.

Will Lowrey was named the new Director of Athletics at North Greenville University, where he will take the place of long-time coach and Director of Athletics Jan McDonald.

Lowrey previously worked at Blue Mountain Christian University in Blue Mountain, Mississippi, where he had served as the athletic director since June of 2018.

During his time at Blue Mountain Christian, Lowrey earned the National Association for Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Champions of Character Gold Star Award, and he was also honored with the Southern States Athletic Conference Sportsmanship Award.

Before working at Blue Mountain Christian, Lowrey served as the head baseball coach and director of development at Tupelo Christian Preparatory School, located in his hometown Tupelo, Mississippi.

Lowrey expressed his excitement by saying, ‘“My daughter Jilanna and I would like to thank Dr. Fant, Rich Grimm, and all at NGU for their trust in me to lead us into the next chapter as the most competitive Christian university in the country,”’

Lowrey will begin his tenure at North Greenville University on June 1. In his role at NGU, he will oversee the university’s athletic program, which includes 20 different varsity sports teams. Lowrey will be responsible for 575 student-athletes.
