SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – Spartanburg School District 4 welcomed back students for the 2024-2025 school year.

Woodruff Elementary School educators gave tips on how parents can help their children be successful this year.

“It starts at home and we need to remember that as parents,” said Camille Robinson, assistant principal at Woodruff Elementary. “Make sure the lines of communication between school and home are open. We’re all on the same team and our number one priority is the student.”

Educators at the school also recommended preparing your student for school the night before.

They said to make sure book bags are packed, outfits are laid out, and screens are turned off well before bedtime.

“As a mom of a fourth grader myself, I encourage you to make sure your little ones go to bed early, eat a good breakfast. I know a lot of them have had a lot of screen time over the summer. We want to make sure were limiting that especially right before they go to bed,” said Giada Parris, Woodruff Elementary principal.

In addition to everything else, the school said to encourage your children to do their best and try to make school a positive experience.

“Make sure you encourage them to do the best that they can every single day. I think a lot of times kids come to school and they’re worried and they’re anxious, but just encourage them every single day,” said Jami Guker, assistant principal.
