HSRZ Team Preview: Eastside Eagles

TAYLORS, S.C. (WSPA) – With high school football just around the corner, the Eastside Eagles are previewed ahead of the 2024 season which kicks off on August 23.

Eastside Eagles:

2023 record: 6-5

Head Coach: Andre Woolcock, 6th season

Key Returners:

Peyton Schrader (QB), Noah Hunnicutt (WR), James Odom (WR), Isaac Robinson (WR), Scooter Foster (RB), Zeke Funke (DL/OL), Thomas Lattimer (S), Quay Dodd (DL/TE)

Key Losses:

Baron Leonard (LB), Kaden Burnette (DB/WR)

Preview:

The Eagles will be without running back Kalvin Banks, who holds just about every rushing record at Eastside and led the offense with 20 touchdowns last season, as they turn the offense over to junior quarterback Peyton Schrader. Schrader will look to improve on his 3-3 record as a starter from last season and will lean on receivers Noah Hunnicutt, Isaac Robinson and James Odom while Scooter Foster will look to take over Banks’ role in the backfield.

On defense, USC commit Quay Dodd and MJ Posey sure up the ends while two linebackers and two defensive backs return to a talented group that should have plenty of coverage options as they transition to a three-high safety scheme.
