    Pedestrian hit, killed while crossing street in Asheville

    ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WSPA) – A man died Friday after he was hit by a car while crossing the street in Asheville.

    The Asheville Police Department said the crash occurred Thursday, August 8, near the 4000 block of Sweeten Creek Road before 10 p.m.

    Officers said 76-year-old Joel Wayne Tucker was attempting to cross the road when he was hit by a Chevrolet Malibu traveling south.

    Tucker was taken to Mission Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries the following day, police said.

    The crash remains under investigation by the APD. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact authorities at (828) 252-1110.
