PICKENS COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – An arrest has been made in connection with a deadly shooting outside a Pickens County home in early August.

The Pickens County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a home on Donna Lane just outside of Easley around 9:30 p.m. on August 3 for a shooting.

When deputies arrived, they found a man lying in the yard with multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim, 21-year-old Cory Ryder Vickery, died from his injuries at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

The sheriff’s office identified the suspect in the shooting as 21-year-old Micah Javon Duckett.

Warrants stated that investigators found cell phone messages about plans for the suspect and victim to meet at the shooting location around the time of the shooting.

Duckett was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon at his home.

He has been charged with murder and is being held in the Pickens County Detention Center without bond.
