    National Weather Service issues ‘CODE RED’ alert

    SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Saturday evening.

    The warning is issued for the areas including Southeastern Henderson County in western North Carolina, Polk County in western North Carolina, Northeastern Greenville County in Upstate South Carolina and Northwestern Spartanburg County in Upstate South Carolina.

    The highly affected areas include Henderson, Polk, Greenville and Spartanburg.

    Downed tree damages Upstate home; thousands without power

    Locations that can also be impacted include Columbus, Landrum, Tryon, Campobello, Saluda, Mill Spring, Lake Adger, Dana, Gowensville and Green Creek.

    The weather could serve as a significant threat to life or property. For protection, the National Weather Service advises people to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
