ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – A motorcyclist died Wednesday night in a single-vehicle crash in Anderson County.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash occurred on US 29 near Rainey Road shortly after 9 p.m.

Troopers said a 2016 Kawasaki Motorcycle was traveling north when the driver lost control of the vehicle and fell onto the roadway. The motorcyclist died at the scene according to troopers.

The Anderson County Coroner’s Office identified the motorcyclist as 30-year-old Yohander Jose Rozo Mendoza.

Investigators determined that the motorcycle was going at a high rate of speed while traveling on US 29. Mendoza was also not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Mendoza’s death has been ruled accidental according to the coroner.

The crash remains under investigation by the SCHP.
