    Buncombe Co. woman arrested for killing mother, deputies say

    BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WSPA) — Officials with the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office said a woman was arrested Thursday for allegedly killing her mother.

    Deputies said 39-year-old Danya Kathryn Dewey was charged with first-degree murder in relation to the death of her mother 63-year-old Lori Pallinger.

    According to the sheriff’s office, the homicide occurred at Clarks Crossing Way in Black Mountain. Deputies found a Pallinger deceased after being called to complete a welfare check.

    Details of what may have led to Pallinger’s death or a motive have not been released at this time.

    Law enforcement located Dewey later in the day and apprehended her.

    She remains in custody in the Buncombe County Detention Facility with no bond according to deputies.
