The video above is from a previous story, regarding the Local Cue having to stop serving alcohol.

GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) — The Local Cue will be serving up spirits again after having to go alcohol-free in July due to South Carolina’s liquor liability laws .

The sports bar announced the news Monday, thanking a local entrepreneur for the change.

“We’re excited to keep welcoming everyone–whether you’re here with family, friends, or fellow sports fans–while staying committed to great food, and community,” a representative with the bar said.

Current state laws require any business that serves alcohol after 5 p.m. to maintain liquor liability insurance of at least $1 million.

Local Cue’s owner Leah Vaughan said the laws make conducting business unsustainable, with her insurance rate increasing by 458%.

“We’ve already applied for our new permits, but the paperwork takes 4-6 weeks to process,” the bar explained. “While we hoped to have alcohol service back in time for the start of football season, it’s unfortunately not possible.”

Though alcohol service is in the works, the bar said that an official return date has yet to be determined.
