UNION, S.C. (WSPA) – A woman was arrested Tuesday in Union, accused of assaulting a nurse at Union Medical Center in July.

According to the Union Public Safety Department, the assault happened on July 17 at the hospital on West South Street.

The police report stated that the nurse had gone into a room in the emergency department to check on a patient’s blood sugar.

The patient, identified as 33-year-old Shelby Lynn Floyd, refused and grabbed the nurse by her hair as she was leaving the room, the report said.

Floyd then pushed the nurse to the floor and started hitting her in the head and shoulders, according to the report.

Officers said they moved Floyd to Spartanburg Medical Center after the assault.

Floyd was charged with second degree assault and battery and booked into the Union County Detention Center.

She was released on $5,000 bond.
