GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – One person has died in a fatal motorcycle collision Wednesday night on Interstate 85.

The Greenville County Coroner’s Office responded to I-85 northbound lanes near mile marker 52. Due to the crash, two lanes were shut down and traffic was backed up for miles.

Upon arrival, investigators pronounced the motorcyclist, 50-year-old Travis Emil Jones, of Wellford, dead at the scene.

South Carolina Highway Patrol said the motorcycle hit the back of a dump truck before being hit by five other vehicles around 11:40 p.m.

Officials mentioned that some vehicles involved in the crash did not stop.

The lanes have reopened since the crash.
