(WSPA) – Thunderstorms resulted in downed trees, damaged property and thousands of power outages across the Upstate on Friday.

According to Duke Energy, roughly 440 people were still without power in Gaffney and Spartanburg early Saturday morning, though as many as 20,000 people in North and South Carolina saw power outages Friday afternoon.

Officials in Cherokee County said storms resulted in damage to at least one home, and one residence was struck by lightning. Photos shared with 7NEWS by a viewer showed where a tree limb was damaged and fell onto a pair of cars Friday afternoon.
