    Man accused of stabbing roommate to death in Greenwood Co.

    GREENWOOD COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – A man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his roommate Friday evening in Greenwood.

    The Greenwood Police Department charged 42-year-old Charlie Mon’Ta Adams with possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and the murder of 43-year-old Demetrous Childs.

    Officers responded to a residence at the corner of Cokesbury Street and Durst Avenue around 7:34 p.m. Upon arrival, investigators found Childs with a stab wound to the chest.

    He was pronounced dead at the scene according to the Greenwood County Coroner’s Office.

    Investigators learned that both men were in a fight when Adams reportedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Childs.

    Adams was apprehended and booked into the Greenwood County Detention Center.

    The homicide remains an ongoing investigation by the Greenwood Police Department.
